ON POINT ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS “THE NEW BREED OF FEMCEE”COLD-HEARTED90% BUSINESS, 10% SHOW IF THE MUSIC INDUSTRY THOUGHT FEMALE EMCEES WERE AN ENDANGERED SPECIES: COLD-HEARTED SAYS “DON’T GET READY, BE READY FOR THE NEW BREED OF FEMCEE”

Indianapolis, IN – On Point Entertainment is pleased to announce the unveiling of their female anchor artist COLD-HEARTED.  Established in 2007, the Midwest-based Independent Label says they “have found the next female emcee to change the game”.  COLD-HEARTED is the total package: She has the “it” factor, she understands the music business and her music is real, inspiring, and a true representation of a female hustler on the grind and overcoming obstacles to achieve her goals in life and the music industry.  COLD-HEARTED is an Indianapolis native that hit the music scene in 2005 and quickly established herself as a true contender in the music industry. Her money motivated, all about business attitude resonated throughout the region and gained her the respect of fans, peers and media outlets. In 2007, COLD-HEARTED signed to On Point Entertainment and began taking the necessary steps in achieving her goals, developing her craft and demanding her respect in the music industry.  Knowing how difficult it is for females to compete in a male-dominated industry, COLD-HEARTED released her first single “I’m On Point” which made a bold statement for the female artist and songwriter. The single was included as a bonus track on the label’s first compilation release THE PRODUCT: Unified Hustle Volume 1.  Upon release, the single was immediately placed in rotation on Hot 96.3 and various internet radio stations. By launching viral marketing campaigns, downloads and ringtone sales increased and various well-known djs requested the single for their club sets and mixtapes, including the 2008 Core DJs All-Female Mixtape “What the Game’s Been Missing”.

Request for COLD-HEARTED to perform, interview and appear were flooding the On Point headquarters rapidly and the company knew they had something special.  In a short time spam, “CH” has been featured in The HYPE Magazine, URBAN NETWORKS, OZONE, AMPS, INDY.COM, SCOOP, NUVO, 24/7, THE MIDWEST LEAK and several others. She was one of the opening headliners for the LADIES OF RAP TOUR featuring female legends Mia X, Gangsta Boo and La Chat. She has opened up for several national artists including Eight Ball & MJG, Spice 1 & MC Eiht, Crime Mob, and Do or Die.  COLD-HEARTED, annually volunteers her time as a celebrity judge for the Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration’s Starquest Talent Competitions,  Peace in the Streets, various Thanksgiving food drives and Christmas Toy drives for needy families.  With her music career on the rise and her eyes focused on wealth building, COLD-HEARTED vows to stay connected to her Indianapolis community no matter how successful she becomes

COLD-HEARTED is currently working on her debut album “HOBBY, HUSTLE, BUSINESS” slated for release in the fall of 2010. The first single off the album is titled “Sittin’ on Top” which On Point Ent tells us will surely kick the door of the industry down and make people take notice of her talent and creativity.   “COLD-HEARTED IS the new breed of femcee: she’s in her own lane, respects the game and has a clear vision of where she wants to go. Her music appeals to both men and women, and can be easily relatable to anyone on the struggle for a better life and having to deal with the opposite sex, haters, and downfalls. We are blessed to be a part of her grind and work with such a humble, informed, and ambitious artist” states On Point Ent COO, Sidney ”B” Taylor.

COLD-HEARTED has recently been selected to be the spokesperson for the 2010 Ladies of Hip Hop Empowerment Series. In conjunction with HYPE TALK RADIO, she will host and conduct a series of interviews with new and established female artists including but not limited to Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Salt and Pepa, Missy Elliott, Lil Kim and Trina. The series will also follow COLD-HEARTED as she attends key-industry events, female performances, studio sessions and video shoots.  “The Game is Mine” is the accompanying campaign anthem for the new series. The record was written and performed by COLD-HEARTED and is a true masterpiece. The record pays homage to the female artist in the industry, with strong convictions by this femcee about her true intentions in the music industry. We are confident that the creativity and respectful nature of the anthem complimented by her unique perspective and humble but aggressive attitude will ensure her longevity in the business.  “This empowerment series will provide a platform for discussion on various industry topics that impact the female artist and will ultimately provide resources, networking opportunities and real-life experiences to other females on the grind. I am blessed and eager to speak with these females and hope to learn and share experiences with them that will change the game for femcees in the game for years to come” says COLD-HEARTED.

LaTausha Taylor, 29, said she saw a lack of professionally run record labels in the city, so she's setting out to change that. Taylor launched On Point Entertainment on May 3, and, according to the owner, it will be "90 percent business, 10 percent music." A hip-hop artist who performs under the moniker Cold-Hearted, Taylor brings her schooling (she just earned a bachelor of business administration degree) and musical knowledge to the label.Taylor has been in the music business for only two years, but already she sees major room for improvement in the Indianapolis music scene -- and room for major labels to start recognizing local talent.

What do you have in mind when you say you want to run On Point like other professional labels?Well, as far as the corporate structure, as far as making sure that all artists are affiliated with performing rights organizations (like ASCAP, which protects the copyright of a musician's work), making sure that the quality of their music is up to par with industry standards, making sure that their music is (copyrighted) . . .In the two years I've been in this business and been out in the Indianapolis community, I've found that a lot of people are just pretty much going out to the studio, recording a song and hitting your nearest local open mic and saying, "Hey, here I am, I'm a rapper or I'm an artist."

Did you approach the artists you have on the label? How did they respond to your business-oriented philosophy? When I hit the scene . . . a lot of artists that I was running into . . . saw for one that I was coming at this as a business and not running for any titles or trying to be the best in the city. I took it a step back and tried to get them involved more with the business aspect, asking them questions like, "Which performing rights organization are you affiliated with?" And a lot of them were like, 'Performing rights, what in the world is that?' If we talked about doing songs together I asked them, "What percentage of the publishing will I receive?" (They'd ask) 'Publishing? What is that?' "I saw that there are a lot of people that are missing the mark here. And that's probably the No. 1 reason why we don't have anyone from Indianapolis that's received a major record deal, that has received national exposure or even been respected as a professional . . . I'm like, you've been doing this 10 years and you don't have ASCAP? It just kind of bugged me. It was crazy. The artists that are signed to my label, we've done shows together and things of that nature, and we've done songs, and I've been helping them get their business together. Some of my mentors were saying, you know, you need to start your own label and get these artists signed and you pretty much handle the business for them so that they can focus on being an artist. . . . So I just started getting a lot of inquiries through MySpace, and I picked who I thought had enough talent, were intelligent enough to start educating themselves on the business, and we just formed a strategic alliance. We came up with On Point Entertainment.

Where do you hope to see the label ending up?Our ultimate goal is to secure a distribution deal with a major label for our entire roster. That would be the ideal situation. . . . But just short-term, again it's about establishing ourselves as professionals, producing good music and giving live shows that the fans can appreciate. And then receiving compensation for what we do now without even having a major deal.
